Use corrosion-resistant fasteners and mounts appropriate to the vessel and isolate incompatible metals where required. The attachment must handle vibration and vessel motion. Ordinary household brackets can rust internally or stain and weaken surrounding surfaces.

Protect connectors without trapping moisture

Use corrosion-resistant compatible hardware, isolate dissimilar metals where appropriate, maintain coating integrity, create drip management, protect connectors without trapping water, and rinse salt residue according to equipment guidance.

Orient connectors and loops so water drains away, maintain seals, and avoid wrapping assemblies so tightly that condensation cannot escape. Do not place unapproved grease inside electrical contacts. Cable should remain supported while allowing controlled vessel movement.

Rinse and inspect on a schedule

Avoid ordinary indoor hardware, enclosed pockets that retain seawater, unapproved grease inside connectors, and cable routes that flex repeatedly with steering, hatches, or rigging.

Rinse exterior salt according to equipment guidance, inspect after heavy spray, and check fastener torque and coating condition. Look beneath clamps and inside accessible connector covers, not only at the visible dish surface.

Respond early to corrosion

Inspect after heavy spray and on a regular maintenance schedule. Address discoloration, pitting, looseness, cracked seals, or intermittent service early rather than waiting for structural or connector failure.

White powder, rust streaks, green contacts, pitting, looseness, or intermittent service deserve prompt attention. Replace compromised hardware or cable and correct the material or drainage cause before structural strength or electrical contact is lost.
