Every property and Starlink project is different. This guide explains the practical factors considered during professional installation and helps you prepare informed questions before work begins.
Define the reason for the change
Customers commonly change plans because they are moving, traveling, reopening a seasonal property, adding business use, or trying to reduce cost. Write down what must change—location, portability, priority, data, or billing—so the new plan solves the actual need rather than simply having a different name.
Check availability on the correct service line
Accounts with multiple terminals require careful attention to the selected line. Confirm the equipment identifier, service address, current plan, and proposed plan before submitting anything. Some options may not be offered in every area or for every hardware type.
Review when the change takes effect
A change may apply immediately, at the next billing cycle, or under another schedule displayed by the account. Read the confirmation screen for prorated charges, credits, priority data, pause status, and effective date. Take a screenshot or save the confirmation for billing records.

Understand what does not change
Changing service does not relocate the dish, improve obstructions, reposition the router, or modify the permanent installation. If the system is moving, the service change should be coordinated with safe removal, a destination site review, and a compatible mounting plan.
Test after the change
Confirm that the account shows the intended plan and location, allow the terminal to update, and test normal applications rather than relying on one speed test. Businesses and remote workers should verify VPN, calls, payment devices, and failover behavior during a low-risk period.
Stop when the account result is unclear
Do not repeatedly switch plans to troubleshoot an equipment or Wi-Fi problem. If an expected option is missing, a charge looks wrong, or the terminal remains offline, collect screenshots and contact Starlink Support through the account before making additional changes.
